During the explosive winter peak season, the volume of packages exceeds the capacity of the iconic brown trucks. To ensure every holiday gift arrives on time, UPS deploys a massive fleet of Seasonal Support Drivers (SSDs)—formerly known as Personal Vehicle Drivers (PVDs). This is a highly lucrative, short-term gig economy role where you are an actual W-2 employee of UPS, utilizing your own personal vehicle to execute high-density neighborhood deliveries. Seasonal Route Operations

• Neighborhood Dispatch: You will meet a UPS brown truck at a designated local rendezvous point (like a large parking lot) or pick up your route directly from the local facility, transferring a specific manifest of packages into your personal vehicle.
• High-Volume Residential Routing: Utilize a UPS-provided smartphone to navigate an ultra-dense residential route. You will be delivering a massive volume of holiday packages, clothes, and electronics to your local community.
• Fast-Paced Fulfillment: The days are fast, physical, and exhilarating. You will be continuously moving packages from your car to the porch, walking briskly to clear the massive daily holiday backlog before sunset.
• Customer Obsession: Act as a friendly, professional representative of UPS. You must handle packages with care, hiding them securely from "porch pirates" and capturing delivery photos.

The Peak Season Reward

Unlike gig apps where pay fluctuates based on tips, UPS Seasonal Support Drivers earn a massive, guaranteed hourly base wage, plus overtime (time-and-a-half) during the peak rush. Crucially, UPS pays the federal mileage reimbursement rate (over 60 cents per mile) tax-free for every mile you drive, covering your gas and wear-and-tear entirely. You also get paid weekly!

Requirements

Must be at least 21 years of age. You must possess a valid driver's license with an impeccable driving record. You must own a reliable, enclosed personal vehicle (Mid-size sedans, SUVs, Minivans, or covered Pickup Trucks are required; no motorcycles or 2-door sports cars). Exceptional physical stamina is required to walk and lift packages up to 70 lbs. A rapid-clearance background check is required.
