Lead the Fleet on the Frontlines

The iconic brown trucks don't run themselves; they require elite, tactical leadership. As a UPS On-Road Dispatch Supervisor, you transition from behind the wheel to leading the men and women who drive the routes. You are the operational commander for a dedicated team of Package Delivery Drivers. Your objective is to ensure every route in your center departs on time, operates safely, and completes its service guarantees. If you have a profound understanding of route logistics, elite leadership skills, and the desire to build a salaried corporate career within UPS, this is your launchpad.

Route Command Operations

  • Tactical Dispatching: Arrive before dawn to review package volume and weather conditions. You will utilize advanced proprietary routing software to build and balance the daily delivery routes, ensuring no driver is overburdened and no package is left behind.
  • Safety Ride-Alongs: You will spend a significant portion of your week in the passenger seat of the package cars, conducting "Observation Rides" with your drivers to audit their defensive driving techniques, ergonomic lifting habits, and customer service skills.
  • Driver Mentorship: Train new drivers from scratch. You will teach them the "5 Seeing Habits" of safe driving, how to master the DIAD scanner, and how to execute the physical demands of the job safely to prevent injury.
  • Incident Resolution: Act as the first responder for any on-road emergencies. If a driver has a mechanical breakdown, encounters an aggressive dog, or is involved in an accident, you are the commanding officer dispatched to the scene to resolve the crisis.

The Leadership Payoff

This is a salaried, management-level position that serves as the direct pipeline to becoming a Center Manager. You will earn a highly lucrative base salary, participate in management bonus structures, and receive elite corporate healthcare and retirement benefits. You enjoy the prestige of leading a team in one of the world's most respected logistics companies.

Requirements

Must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver's license and a pristine driving record. Previous experience as a commercial delivery driver (preferably within UPS) is incredibly valuable. You must possess exceptional leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills. Advanced computer literacy to manage dispatch software is mandatory. You must have the physical stamina to walk routes with drivers and a willingness to work long, flexible hours during the peak holiday season.
