Launch Your Career on the Tarmac

UPS operates one of the largest and most sophisticated cargo airlines in the world. Behind every roaring jet engine is an elite ground crew ensuring the freight makes the flight. As a UPS Air Cargo Ground Support Driver (Ramp Agent), you are the muscle and the movement behind our aviation network. You will operate specialized motorized equipment directly on the airport tarmac, working alongside massive Boeing and Airbus cargo planes. If you love loud, high-energy, outdoor environments and want an exhilarating driving job unlike anything on the highway, welcome to the flightline.

Aviation Ramp Operations

  • Tug & Tractor Operation: Drive heavy-duty baggage tugs, hauling massive trains of cargo dollies (ULDs) across the active airport tarmac from the sorting facility directly to the awaiting aircraft.
  • Aircraft Loading: Operate specialized aviation ground support equipment (GSE) including K-loaders and belt loaders. You will physically push, pull, and guide massive aluminum cargo containers weighing thousands of pounds into the belly of the aircraft.
  • Marshalling & Safety: Use illuminated wands to safely marshal multi-million-dollar cargo jets into their parking bays, ensuring absolute wing clearance and preventing catastrophic ground collisions.
  • All-Weather Endurance: Aviation never sleeps. You must execute your driving and loading duties outdoors on the concrete tarmac in torrential rain, freezing snow, and blistering summer heat, maintaining strict adherence to FAA safety regulations at all times.

The UPS Aviation Advantage

Working the ramp for UPS offers incredible career mobility. It is an intense physical workout that pays a premium hourly wage. You will enjoy the world-class benefits UPS is famous for, including deep healthcare coverage and pension options, while working in an incredibly unique, highly secure airport environment.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old with a valid driver's license and a clean driving record. Exceptional physical fitness is an absolute requirement; you must be capable of lifting 70+ lbs repeatedly and manipulating massive cargo containers. You must be able to pass an extreme, federally mandated 10-year background check and drug screen to obtain a secure airport SIDA (Security Identification Display Area) badge.
